The Most Economic and Reliable Broadband Internet Connection For Pakistanis (Review)

In case you are new to the internet and want a broadband connection that is not only reliable but also light on the pocket, then there is no better option than the PTCL Broadband economy package. Although there are countless other internet service providers as well, but none of them even comes near to providing the quality of service that PTCL does. Internet newbies are usually bombarded with ads from ISPs such as Qubee, Wi-Tribe, LinkDotNet and NayaTel that seem to be great but in reality come with a myriad of hidden costs and outrageous “service, installation and modem charges”. On the other hand, PTCL tries to facilitate every one by customized broadband packages that are meant for people of all ages.

One of the key factors of PTCL broadband economy package is that user is provided with a free Wi-Fi Modem. Other ISPs, however, charge the full modem price beforehand. Another advantage of getting this broadband economy package from PTCL is that you can avail unlimited PTCL to PTCL calls @ Rs. 250 for the whole month.

The only downside, in my opinion, of the PTCL broadband economy package is the 10 GB download limit. That is why this offer isn’t suitable for hardcore internet users relying on downloads, gaming etc. However, for those who just started learning internet essentials, such as browsing and social networking; the offer is great indeed.

Some of package details and key highlights of the PTCL broadband economy package are provided below:

  • Download up to 10 GBs is inclusive in the Package Price
  • Rs.100 per GB will be charged for downloads greater than 10 GBs
  • Total DSL charges will be capped at Rs. 1,500 which means that after 20 GBs the Package will become unlimited.
  • Rs. 1,500 will be charged as downgrade charges from all 1 Mbps and Higher Packages (Student & Regular) if they Opt into this package
  • This Package will be available with PSTN Freedom Package (Rs. 250) for new customers and existing customers can also avail Freedom Package with Broadband Economy Package.
  • PTCL broadband is the most affordable broadband service in the country
  • Seamless experience when streaming and downloading movies, TV shows and music files etc
  • Access to rich HD multimedia resources over the internet
  • Access to free movies, music, classical Pakistani plays, famous cricket matches, educational and religious contents exclusively for PTCL broadband customers   on ‘Buzz’ broadband web infotainment portal

PTCL EVO Wingle – Best Internet Modem For Frequent Travelers & People On The Move

There are various internet service providers in Pakistan. These ISPs offer a wide variety of services including DSL internet connectivity as well as pocket modems. However, in case you are in Pakistan and you want maximum connectivity while you are on the go, then PTCL pocket modems and 3G dongles are your best options. Although other ISPs such as WiTribe, Wateen and WorldCall are also providing such modems, but their connectivity capacity is limited and their availability is restricted to a few metropolis of the country.

Contrary to these providers and their internet modems, PTCL EVO Wingle helps you connect to the internet in more than 200 cities, towns and villages throughout Pakistan. The modem offers 9.3 MBPs connectivity in nitro-enabled 200+ geographic locations and auto switches to 3.1 MBPs connectivity in 250 non-nitro coverage areas.

In case you need to connect internet on more than one devices, for instance on your laptop, smartphone and tablet, simultaneously, then PTCL EVO Wingle might be your internet connection modem of choice. The PTCL EVO Wingle is Pakistan’s first ever 3G internet modem with built-in Wi-Fi / Hi-Link capability that allows 5 devices to connect simultaneously. This means that you can connect your smartphone, laptop, Wi-Fi enabled desktop and tablet to the internet simultaneously using a single EVO Wingle device.

The PTCL Evo Wingle works flawlessly with any external USB adapter. This means that you can simply use the brilliant “plug and share” feature of this modem without having to manipulate your Wi-Fi enabled gadget’s settings.

The bottom line is that there is no better alternative to EVO Wingle while you are travelling in Pakistan. You might want to test other ISPs and their modems, but they won’t be able to accompany you as soon as your leave your city or reach the out skirts.

For more details on the PTCL EVO Wingle and the packages, you can head to the following link and join the official Facebook fan page for up to date discount offers and tariff.

Mobilink Posts Flat Revenue Growth During Q1 2013

Mobilink posted a steady increase in revenues in first quarter of 2013 to reach Rs. 27.2 billion, up from 25.9 billion during the same duration a year ago.

Revenues were mainly hit by tough regulatory environment, persistent energy shortage and law and order situation that resulted into government forced network outages.

Mobilink, on other hands, took necessary measures to strengthen its position with given circumstances by mitigating the impact of regulatory restrictions on retail channel sales for new SIMs by changing the distribution structure through direct agreements with selected retailers and focusing on reactivation offers.

Company’s ARPU stood at Rs. 243.9, while mobile data revenues increased by 27%.

Mobilink – in the group financial statement – said that its EBITDA grew 5.5 percent to PKR 11.5 billion from PKR 10.9 billion a year earlier.

Mobilink said that average minutes used per month per user stood at 228, up from 215 during same duration last year.

CCP chairperson, 4 member authority questioned in SHC

KARACHI – Appointment of Chairperson Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) Rahat Konain Hasan and other four members of CCP has been challenged in the Sindh High Court )SHC) Karachi bench here on Monday. Image

Supreme Court lawyer Rana Azmul Hassan had filed a writ petition CP No D 1942 of 2013 through Zia-ul-Haq advocate and contended that appointments of Rahat Konain Hasan and other members were made under competition commission ordinance which had lapsed on 16-08-2010, adding that the present competition commission act 2010 was promulgated on 13-10-2010.

The petitioner contended that notification of appointment was under defunct ordinance and unfortunately, through another notification dated 15.01.201, the federal government erred in law to give retrospective effect of the appointment of the chairperson.
The petitioner further argued in the writ petition that the said appointments have been made in violation of the provision of the competition Act 2010 and Constitution of Pakistan as the notification for appointment of the chairperson and the four members were not validated under the new Competition Act therefore, the notification dated 15-01-2011 was null and void.

Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Shafi Siddiqui of SHC took up the petition on Monday and issued notices for May 30 and sought comments from the federal government on the legality of the appointment of the chairperson and four members of CCP.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently CCP had passed two significant orders on Fauji Fertilizer, Engro Corporation and LDI’s involving more than Rs 15 billion fine and in case of acceptance of the petition status of those orders by CCP, administration would be questioned.
